Baconator Soft Pretzels From The Mythical Cookbook
Wendy, you gotta try this.

Recipes that require a bunch of prep and long wait times tend to turn me off. I want to start and complete a recipe in one go. So, I challenged myself with Baconator Soft Pretzels from The Mythical Cookbook—and I think I rose to the occasion.
First, I must confess I was more interested in the "soft pretzel" part of this dish than the "Baconator" name. Sure, bacon is good, but my Wendy's order of choice is the Spicy Chicken Sandwich. Soft pretzels, however, might be Germany's greatest contribution to the world, and I've never tried to make them at home.

The first thing the recipe says to do is cook the bacon. I'm sorry, Josh, but I disagree. I think you should always start with the thing that requires waiting. So, I mixed up the dough, did some hardcore kneading, and set it aside to rise while I cooked the bacon. Efficiency!
After going out for the quick drink, the dough had plenty of time to double in size—maybe even more. So, I brushed off my Play-Doh skills and made some long snakes. One Google search for "how to shape pretzel" later I had six pretzels ready for a swim. The last step was to top with bacon and cheese and bake.

Damn, these came out so good! I was legitimately very impressed and proud of myself. The pretzels were soft on the inside, slightly chewy on the outside, and the bacon added a nice crunch. The Baconator Sauce was a nice companion as well. Three recipes into the cookbook, I think this one is my favorite so far.
